Soccer rivalries in the world
Soccer
rivalries have positive and negative effects. There are big clashes with clubs
around the world. For example, in England, there is a Manchester derby
involving two massive teams, Manchester United and Manchester City. Rivalries
normally consist of two teams around the same region. Rivalries form in the
lower leagues also. In Spain, there is one of the biggest soccer rivalries in
the world, Real Madrid and Barcelona. That is an example of a clash in clubs
from different regions.
Soccer
rivalries play a big factor in the sport. Without it, there wouldn’t be as much
of an exciting atmosphere. Ticket sales also boost up on the day of a rival
match. Negative effects include violence and hooliganism.
Hooliganism is a major problem in soccer today. Hooligans are soccer fanatics who cause violence at matches and enjoy it. Innocent civilians get injured and local businesses get ruined. During Euro 2016 in France, many fans were frightened and got seriously injured from riots and hooliganism.
